I have an ax to grind with breast cancer because of the extreme devastation that it often leaves behind and how many women will endlessly suffer as a result of it! The very thought of cancer makes me want to take this ax and smash it into the very center of cancer if such an action was even possible! Since October is considered breast cancer awareness month, I wanted to represent it by holding this ax up to demonstrate how I really feel about cancer of any kind! According to www.breastcancer.org one in every eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer! I am very saddened by these stats and yet I find them infuriating because of how many families will be left behind as a result of this deadly illness! There needs to be a cure and a prevention! These numbers are just too high!
I was diagnosed with stage one breast cancer in 2008 and I had just landed a great career at the time and I was going to compete in my first bodybuilding show! I lost the job within days of my diagnosis and was facing an impossible situation! Facing breast cancer at a young age has its challenges because of career, relationships and professional advancements are often affected as a result of the illness! No wonder I have an ax to grind! I just wrote an article for Rxmuscle.com and will be adding this to the media section of my blog!
